Indigenous Screen Australia (ISA) aims to maintain and promote Indigenous
culture through the support of Indigenous filmmakers, crews and their organisations.
ISA was established in 1999 to be a voice for Indigenous people and our media
organisations working in film and television. ISA is a member driven organisation.
Our membership includes individuals and organisations in remote areas, rural
Australia and the city centers. A full list of members is available on the
site. We welcome you to become a member if you are Indigenous and work in the
film and television industry.
We represent our members on matters of policy development including protocol
issues, archive management, access to production finance, training and television
broadcasting services. We also lobby government on issues that concern our
industry. We regularly stage events such as conferences on Indigenous film,
film festivals and the Tudawali awards.
ISA represents film and television on behalf of the Australian
Indigenous Communications Association. We also work closely with related organisations such as the AFC,
AFTRS, NSWFTO and the FFC to deliver the outcomes and aspirations embodied
in our corporate plan.
We are working towards developing international alliances with indigenous colleagues
and organisations globally, to enhance co-financing, international exhibition
opportunities and strategic alliances on common issues.
ISA is not funded by government. Our activities are undertaken by our members
for the benefit of our members and the ultimately the audiences of our members
work. ISA is managed by a national committee which meets every month in accordance
with the ISA constitution. The committee and the minutes of our meetings are
posted on the site every month. Dates for meetings are listed on the site.
If you want to contact us on any issues associated with our work, we’d
be pleased to hear from you.
