Indigenous Screen Australia is beginning the process
of forging alliances with Indigenous people and organisations in
key countries such
as the US, Canada and New Zealand.

ISA recently hosted Bird Runningwater, selector for Sundance, as
a guest at Message Sticks Film Festival. He selected highlights of
the festival for screening in Australia. It also gave Bird the opportunity
to view works from Australia for possible inclusion at Sundance. >> Sundance

ISA filmmakers had the opportunity to meet with Native Canadian filmmakers
hosted by the Australian Film Commission. It is hoped these meetings
will lead to international co-productions, potentially with the Aboriginal
Peoples Television Network. >> APTN

Guests from Maori Television; Haunui Royal, Leonie Pihama and Ngarimu
Daniels also participated at Message Sticks. This also provided the
opportunity to screen works between countries. Maori Television
have purchased a significant amount of Australian Indigenous film

ISA also drew inspiration from Maori filmmakers for the formation
of our corporate plan based on the equivalent body Nga Aho Whakaari
Mission statement. ISA also reviewed the New Zealand Film and Sound
Archives policies in relation to it’s own submission
